Do it when you’re young! The difference in my body now to just five years ago is incredible! I have to work a lot harder to achieve the same things as before. Despite your age, height, weight, one thing  stays consistent – your will to succeed!

I suffered a fairly bad injury to my back over 2 years ago. It changed every aspect of my life. Prior to this unfortunate occurrence, I was competing at a national level, I would train four to five times a week, and push my body as far as I could muster. Now, I wasn’t even able to sit down comfortably. Imagine the polar opposite of your peak situation. Now image how losing a part of you that defined you for years. It was uprooting and debilitating. The good news? There is always light at the end of the tunnel.

I continuously put my best food forward into my rehab and physiotherapy, and a year and a half after, I was able to start training again, albeit very, very carefully! Everything is a process, and once you have your processes set and defined, you’ll be able to make it out of any rut! This is why I preach life and fitness coaching as necessary and integral things in one’s life.

Now, I’m not able to do some of my favourite exercises or compete at a national level right now, but I plan on getting my body back up there. There are so many exercise options out there that you can’t give up on yourself!

Just getting back into the swing of things, I already feel so much better mentally and physically than I was not too long ago. I also didn’t get through this alone, I had support from doctors, mentors, and other fitness coaches to will myself back on the road to fitness!

My mom always told me things get harder after forty. I think she was right. Thanks for the heads up, MOM!

I’ve really cleaned up my eating and my body has loved me for it. Though we all love food, it’s about finding the right balance and rewarding yourself when you’ve been doing good! I mean, you gotta have a little fun, right?

I don’t want to give away too many secrets, but I must say I’m getting that competition bug and may compete in 2017. Hey, you need to set goals, right!?
